Stress and Trauma Facts

What is stress?

Stress in humans results from interactions between people and their environment that are perceived as straining or exceeding their adaptive capabilities and threatening their well-being.

Stress plays an important role in modulating the psycho-neuro-immunological players of the body. Thus it is behind the initiation, exacerbation and maintenance of most killer diseases like heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, mental illnesses etc. Hence, stress is known as the number one proxy killer disease. Proxy because most often than not, stress as the real cause of the illness goes unnoticed!

Stress from trauma, fear, or shocking life events increases systemic inflammation, which can significantly suppress the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system encompasses the nervous, immune and endocrine (hormone) systems. These three systems collectively work together to facilitate homeostasis. When a stress pattern becomes chronic, the effects on the body can be detrimental, especially when there is emotional, physical or chemical trauma in the mix. Please watch our video testimonies of how the Word of God applied to the healing process reduces stress and supports the innate healing within the body.

Stress is very expensive and dangerous. Just glance through these stress facts:

  • Stress is recognized as the number one proxy killer disease* today. The American Medical Association has noted that stress was the basic cause of more than 60% of all human illness and disease.
  • It is estimated that American businesses lose approximately $200-$300 billion per year to stress related productivity loss and the treatment costs.
  • Every week 95 million Americans suffer some kind of stress related symptoms for which they take medication.
  • A 20 year study conducted by the University of London concluded that unmanaged reactions to stress were a more dangerous risk factor for cancer and heart disease than either cigarette smoking or high cholesterol foods.
  • A survey of 201 U.S. corporations revealed that 60% of all managers felt that stress related illness was pervasive among their workers and decreased productivity at an estimated cost of 16 days of sick leave and $8000 per person a year.

 What is a stressor?

A stressor is any biological, chemical, emotional or physical substance or factor that can cause temporary or permanent harm. The BioScanSRT System can benefit everyone whether it is used to address current health issues or used as a preventative means to maintain optimal health.

Internal and external stressors have been scientifically proven to contribute to many symptoms and illnesses including: Heart & Organ Disease, headaches/migraines, depression, allergies, frequent colds, arthritis, food sensitivities, anxiety, sleep disorders, digestive issues, skin irritations (psoriasis/eczema) and much more.

Trauma

Trauma, from a neuroscience perspective, is anything unresolved in the brain and nervous system creating stress on any varied level(s) spiritually, emotionally, physically, energetically, chemically. Stress Reduction Therapy, from a biblical perspective, supports the resolution of trauma individually based on applying truth to the individuals’ perception of the unresolved stressor. An example would be fear that is entrained in the mind due to a shock event or trauma creates chemicals that negatively impact the brain and body. This causes stress response patterns if not appropriately dealt with in the mind. Replacing the fear on all levels with love, for example, can reduce the daily stress in the mind, body and spirit. Managing one’s mind, especially after a negative life event, is key to health and healing overall. According to Dr. Caroline Leaf’s neuroscience research, our thinking, feeling and choosing is what drives our behavior. Negative patterns of stress, fear, sadness, etc. can create a negative internal environment that directly impacts how the whole body functions and takes direction from the autonomic nervous system.
