What Is A Brain Map?

A brain map or Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG) is the first step we take with clients interested in neurofeedback. The image above shows a sample of what a brain map looks like. As you can see, there are four basic brainwaves: Delta, Theta, Alpha, and Beta. Each brain frequency is assessed, and the outcomes are tied to the different lobes of the brain—Frontal, Central, Temporal, Parietal, and Occipital.

The assessments are then compared against a database of ideal brainwave activity. This is known as a quantitative analysis. One of the most important things to remember about this process is that every client is unique. Neurofeedback training supports your individual needs.

Research on Neurofeedback

There are many case studies using QEEG brain maps that reveal that people with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) symptoms will also have elevated Delta brainwaves. Those with depression, on the other hand, usually exhibit imbalances in Alpha brainwaves on the left side of the brain.

People suffering from anxiety often have an excess of Beta brainwaves, while those suffering from memory loss can frequently have issues in Theta brainwave generation.

This is why we often do an individual brain map assessment for our clients. We assess your brainwave generation distribution and determine what training is most supportive for individual health goals.
